It’s what we have in common that sets us apart.

Founded in 1977, MGH Institute of Health Professions is a graduate school in Boston and the only degree-granting affiliate of New England’s largest health care provider, Mass General Brigham. Health professions remain our singular area of focus—integrating classroom learning with research and clinical experience. Whether clinical or non-clinical; advanced degree or continuing professional development, that unique focus is what motivates us, binds us, and brings us together around a shared purpose: to advance careers and care, together. Our distinctive approach includes:

  • Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion: We seek to integrate anti-oppressive practices into all aspects of our work, from clinical and community environments to curriculum.
  • Groundbreaking Research: As the fastest growing research enterprise in the Mass General Brigham system, we are at the forefront of translating research to practice.
  • Interprofessional Education: We pioneered collaborative team-based learning, and continue to innovate in this area, developing graduates who are skilled in teamwork across professions.

MGH’s connection to the IHP was a big deciding factor to me, I mean, it’s a world-renowned hospital. It was important to do the clinicals here, in fact, I did my preceptorship on the floor that I currently work on. Also, the program is set apart from other nursing programs because all classes are in-person, which I found super helpful.

I did not expect the amount of caring, concern and attention given by faculty in this online format. Despite the variety of different topics discussed, at the core of each of these sessions was modeling of the human element of teaching. The passion for their topic, the interest in discussing further, the respect for students, and the genuine curiosity in the opinions of others are evident.

My time spent in the Institute’s DNP program helped me view healthcare from a unique lens. It strengthened my confidence and knowledge as a nurse leader and innovator and motivated me to help transform the next decade of healthcare.
